Arthur Samofalov (8 February 1987, Sumy)
Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine and the League of watercolors of CrimeaIn 2002 Arthur entered Sumy Highest school of Arts and Culture of Bortnyansky joining the faculty of «Graphic and Decorative Applied Art» where he became acquainted with different types and genres of Art, such as sculpture, ceramics, embroidery, sacred art, and design etc. Already in school Arthur realized his main interest : he was attracted, first and foremost to the medium of water colour with its richness of tone, fine gradations of shade and subtle nuance.
In 2006 Arthur entered Kiev National Academy of Fine Arts (Crimean branch), joining the Graphics department where he didn't go unnoticed. The artist continued his studies and later was admitted to the ‘League of Aquarellists of Crimea’ as, as yet their youngest artist. He obtained a bachelor degree as well as a diploma with honors receiving high praise from the council of artists.
After graduation of the Academy in 2012 he obtained a magister degree as well as a diploma with again honors received high praise from the council of artists.
Today Arthur is studying in Institute of Art in Poland. Where he mastered the skill of the art media art, for their present and future projects. The artist continues to create new images, exploring new territories for expression, gaining new skills and deepening his technique.
Arthur is a master in the art of 'Alla Prima' which is executed in one breath on crude paper. His work in this genre is striking by the very perfection of execution that it reveals. The use of this technique demands knowledge of the degree of humidity of the paper as well as great experience; it requires from the artist to be both skilled in the handling of a brush, and precise in vision of tone and color.
His paintings are in themselves complete works of art, with a highly developed definitive and very recognizable personal style being eloquent in their expressive beauty of the gentle female form, in the silent contemplation of still life, and the poetic spiritual images of landscape wherein the confluence of the surreal, the real and elements of dream meet in a most masterful unity of expression.
Arthur has participated in a large number of regional, and international exhibitions.
His works are now to be found in private collections in France, Austria, Great Britain, Greece, Japan, Taiwan, the USA, etc. and other countries.
